Wasteland essentially defined the post-post-apocalyptic setting and quirky tone that Fallout would later grow to exemplify. Set long after a nuclear war devastated the world, the focus is on a redeveloping humanity and the trials and tribulations they face. Such similarities don’t stop at gameplay mechanics, as the story and world are just as familiar. Isometric exploration, turn-based combat, CRPG heavy mechanics, it’s all the same. Fallout actually exists at all because Interplay couldn’t get the original Wasteland rights back, so they ripped themselves off. Anyway, I would say 20-25 hours is a good overall estimate of the average user's completion time.Īs for missables, I suppose you can drop key items and miss some achievements that way, but the only "real" missable other than deliberately sabotaging yourself by dropping key items is related to rescuing someone with a bomb attached to them. You can even fully AFK it without a turbo controller by putting something on the escape key to weigh it down though it would be slower. This will require a lot of manual combat ( a lot), though there are more AFK methods if you have a turbo controller, or feel like pressing the C key for 5-6 hours while you watch TV or something. I had 600k experience at the end of the game, and you need 8.7 million for an achievement.
You could probably get it down to 15 hours if you followed the guide and are familiar with this type of game, but your completion time will vary greatly based on how you go about the rank achievements.

My save file says 19 hours, but I obviously did some fucking around to figure out puzzles, how to do areas and so on.

Playing it on your PC won't lock you out of getting achievements, but you will need to save right before getting most achievements so that way you can load the save on your One and earn the achievement for real there.Īs for the completion, you only need one playthrough.

The downside is that most achievements do not unlock in the Windows 10 version. It's worth noting that it works fine on both the console and Windows 10, but the keyboard you'll have doing it on PC makes the game much easier to control. Solutions to puzzles are incredibly obtuse and the controls can be fairly unwieldy (especially on console). It is a turn-based RPG, and pretty damn archaic compared to games nowadays, obviously.
